Electronic signatures are accepted as legally binding in England and Wales and the European Union for the majority of contract types. This includes property instructions and assured shorthold tenancy agreements.

Working alongside our legal team and external technology counsel, we have developed an electronic signing solution. You can access electronic signing (or eSigning) as part of PropertyFile.

PropertyFile lets estate and letting agents manage electronic signing from within their existing property software. There’s no need for third party integrations, it’s all in one place.

How eSigning in PropertyFile meets legal requirements?

The eSigning function lets you:

  • Verify the identity of the signing party through more than one form of authentication, including email address, signature time and IP address of the signing party
  • Securely store a tamper-proof version of the signed contract with your property software for ongoing access when you need it
  • Provide copies of the signed contract to the customer for future reference
  • Confirm that the customer has read and is happy to enter into a legally binding contract by ticking a box and typing their name into the contract
