How to extract the data from a Financial Data Export using 7-Zip

We will send you a link to the back-up, you will need to download this and then use an extraction tool to convert the file to a useable format. We use a tool called 7-Zip and there is a free downloadable version available if required.

  1. Copy and paste the link we send into your tool bar and search
  2. Select Save As and save to a local drive, when the file has completely downloaded do not select open, select cancel
  3. Locate the folder on your local drive:
  4. Right click on the notepad icon and using 7-Zip or alternative programme Open Archive.
  5. Click on the file icon and then select the Extract option. This will bring up a save location and file name, press OK.
